Requirements to Qualify for the LVDA Championships

Eligibility Rule

  • The LVDA Championships are open to LVDA members and non-members who have earned qualifying scores during the qualifying period. 

Qualifying Period

  • From January 1, 2019 - September 1, 2019

Qualifying Shows

  • Any LVDA hosted show including the USDF/LVDA Recognized Show

Class Categories

  • Classes will be divided into 2 Divisions, Youth/Junior (under 21) and Senior. 
  • Horse/Rider Combinations must ride in the test they received their qualifying score in, with the exception of Second Level and above riders. 
  • Horse/Rider Combinations qualifying at or above Second Level Test 1 may choose to ride Second Level Test 3 or any test from a higher level. 

Qualifying scores

  • The same qualifying scores apply for both the Youth Division and Senior Division.

It is NOT required that the horse/rider combination achieve a certain rank in the class (i.e., first, second, etc.), only that the minimum percentage score be earned.

Qualifying scores that must be achieved per level (must be received at an LVDA show):
USDF Intro B 60% +
USDF Intro C 60% +
Training Level Test 3 60% +
First Level Test 3 60% +
Second Level Test 1 and Above 60% +

A listing of 2018 Qualified Riders will be posted on the Championship Qualified Riders page. This page will be updated after each LVDA show.

Horse/Rider Guidelines
  • A horse and rider qualify as a combination.   No substitutions of horse or rider will be allowed at the show.
  • A horse/rider combination may compete at only one level in the championships, and must compete at the highest level qualified for.
  • First Place Winning horse/rider teams will be ineligible to compete at the same or lower levels in succeeding years. 
  • Championships will follow the USEF Rule stating, “A horse may be ridden in no more than 3 classes per day.
  • The LVDA Championship Classes will be conducted according to USEF rules with exceptions. 
    • Whips ARE allowed and tests MAY be read. 
  • Proper attire in accordance with USEF rules must be worn.   Turnout prize to be awarded by judge. 
  • Ribbon Ceremony for the top 6 in each division - Prizes to Champion and Reserve
