LVDA Award Programs
Opportunities, Qualification Requirements & Documentation

The LVDA provides two Award Program opportunities (The Show Award Program and The Year-End Award Program) with each program consisting of two divisions (Adult Division -over 21, and Youth Division -under 21).  

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

Show Awards Program
 - All LVDA Member and Non-Member Competitors are eligible for this program

This program provides Show Ribbons and Special Prizes for our Adult Division and Youth Division at each of our Schooling & Recognized Shows and are awarded strictly based on scores achieved the day of the show.   All of these awards are distributed the day of each show.
  • Schooling Show & Recognized Show Ribbons are awarded for 1st through 6th place in each "Class/Test" for both our Adult & Youth divisions.  
  • Special Schooling Show Prizes are also awarded to our 1st Place winners for each "Level" in both our Adult & Youth divisions.
  • High Score Ribbons are awarded for Intro/Training Levels Combined and First & Above Levels Combined in both our Adult & Youth Divisions at our Schooling Shows and Recognized Show.
  • LVDA Member "High Score for the Show" Ribbon and Prize are awarded at our Recognized Show  
  • Special Championship Show Prizes are awarded to our Champions & Reserve Champions for each "Championship Level" in both our Adult & Youth divisions.



  
Year-End Awards Program
- Only LVDA Members are Eligible

This program has nine (9) award categories for Special Year-End Awards and Ribbons.    Each of the award categories have specific qualifying criteria, with several of the categories having multiple levels of awards to be awarded.   Full details for each category are listed below and instructions for the documentation required to apply are provided at the end.

The Available Year-End Awards and their eligibility requirements are:

LVDA Year-End Schooling Show Awards
  
Awards and Ribbons will be given for the following placings and levels in both the Adule Division and Youth Divisions:
Champion, Reserve Champion, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th place at Intro A & B combined, Intro C, Training Level, First Level, Second Level, Third Level, Fourth Level, Prix St Georges, I-1, I-2, and Grand Prix
Qualifying Requirements: To be eligible for these awards you must have competed at LVDA Schooling Shows within the calendar year and you must have three (3) scores from two (2) different judges within the same level. Two of the Three required scores must be from an LVDA-hosted Schooling Show, and the third may be from another local GMO-hosted Schooling Show (ESDCTA, French Creek, etc). Scores must be from an “L” Graduate judge or higher rated judge (r, R, or S).   One of the scores must be from the highest test of the level (ie. Test 3 of Training Level).   A horse may compete with more than one rider, or the rider may compete with more than one horse, but the average will be calculated on each horse and rider combination.   The owner, if different from the rider need not be a LVDA member. Neither Fix-A-Test scores nor Team Competition scores may be used for these awards.
Awards will be based on the highest average of 3 rides within the same level, minimum average score of 60%.  

LVDA /USEF/USDF Year-End Recognized Show Awards -
  
Awards and Ribbons will be given for the following placings and levels in both the Adult Division and Youth Divisions:
Champion, Reserve Champion, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th place at Training Level, First Level, Second Level, Third Level, Fourth Level, Prix St Georges, I-1, I-2, Grand Prix and Musical Freestyle any level.
Qualifying Requirements: To be eligible for these awards you must have competed at USEF/USDF Recognized Show competitions within the calendar year and you must submit a copy of the front of your tests, with a minimum of three scores (3) from two (2) different judges within the same level.   Scores do not need to be received from LVDA hosted Recognized Shows. One of the scores must be from the highest test of the level (ie. Test 3 of Training Level).   Scores may be from Opportunity Classes. A horse may compete with more than one rider, or the rider may compete with more than one horse, but the average will be calculated on each horse and rider combination.   The owner, if different from the rider need not be a LVDA member.
  
Awards will be based on the highest average of 3 rides within the same level, minimum average score of 60%.

LVDA Adult High Score Award - 
  
Awards and Ribbons will be given for Adult riders who have received the single highest score at an LVDA-hosted Show during the LVDA show season at each of the following levels:
Adult High Score Intro/Training, Adult High Score First & Above
Qualifying Requirements: Strictly based on scores received and recorded at LVDA-hosted shows. Adult High Score rider must have been the age of 22 or older as of January 1st of the current show year. Riders must be a current LVDA member at the time the score was achieved. Owner, if different than the rider of the horse, does not need to be an LVDA member.

LVDA Youth High Score Award - 
  
Awards and Ribbons will be given for Youth riders who have received the single highest score at an LVDA-hosted Show during the LVDA show season at each of the following levels:
Youth High Score Intro/Training, Youth High Score First & Above 
Qualifying Requirements: Strictly based on scores received and recorded at LVDA-hosted shows. Youth riders must be a current LVDA member at the time the score was achieved. Youth High Score rider must have been less than 21 years of age as of January 1st of the current show year. Owner, if different than the rider of the horse, does not need to be an LVDA member.
LVDA Vintage Rider High Score Award - 
  
This award and ribbon will be presented to a rider who is 55 years of age or older and who has received three (3) scores that average a minimum of 60% from LVDA-hosted shows during the current calendar year. This award is based on scores received by the rider, the horse need not be the same for each score.

To be eligible, submit a copy of the front of the three (3) tests and proof of age.  This award may be won by the same individual a maximum of 3 times.

LVDA Rider Achievement Awards Scores must be obtained within the past 5 years.
Bronze Medal, Silver Medal and Gold Medal

To be eligible, submit a copy of the front of six (6) tests from LVDA-hosted events with a minimum average score of 60%.

The rider can achieve this award on more than one horse; however, a rider may only earn one Medal at each level.

Bronze Medal: six (6) scores at Training Level

Silver Medal: three (3) scores at First Level and three (3) scores at Second Level

Gold Medal: three (3) scores at Third Level and three (3) scores at Fourth Level


Amy Mende Volunteer of the Year Award
The Amy Mende Award (formerly the Volunteer Of The Year Award) will be presented to a current LVDA member who has supported LVDA by volunteering time throughout the current calendar year.   It is presented in honor of Amy Mende who was an LVDA member and tireless volunteer.
To be eligible for this award, you must be a current member (dues paid) who has consistently volunteered throughout the current year. The recipient of this award is selected by the Awards Committee.
  
LVDA Special Recognition Award
This award will be given to a non-LVDA individual or a group who has made major contributions to the LVDA for the current calendar year. Current members may nominate these individuals or groups for this award.  The winner will be chosen by the Awards Committee


                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

Year-End Awards Documentation 
Please attach to your Application


  1. Compile copies of the front of your test sheets (including name of show, date, judge, test, score, etc.)   Riders must be current LVDA members (dues paid) at the time the scores are obtained. Scores received prior to membership will not be counted. Awards committee must be able to physically verify receipt of membership application and dues paid to verify the official membership date.

  2. Compile copies of your volunteer forms.  Eight (8) volunteer hours are required to apply for your first Year End Award (including 4 “Hands-On/Physical” volunteer hours) and an additional (4) volunteer hours are required to apply for each additional Year - End Award.  See information below regarding Volunteer Hours.

  3. Complete the Year-End Awards Application Form.

Completed applications must be postmarked by November 15.

Volunteer Hours:  The following indicates what volunteer hours are required to apply for Year-End Awards:

  1. Volunteer hours must be earned within the calendar year

  2. Eight (8) volunteer hours are required to apply for your first Year-End Award (including 4 “Hands-On/Physical” volunteer hours), and an additional four (4) hours are required to apply for each additional Year -End Award.  At least four (4) hours must be obtained from “Hands-On/Physical” activities at LVDA events.

  3. Volunteer hours can also be earned through “Supporting Activities”.   These include activities like LVDA Committee membership, writing Newsletter articles, obtaining sponsors, etc.

    Note:  Board Officers and/or Committee members cannot use Supporting Activitiy hours in combination with donated hours and sponsorship hours as total hours towards awards- at least four (4) hours must come from “Hands-On/Physical” activities at LVDA events.

  1. Donation of volunteer hours:  Four (4) of the required volunteer hours needed for an award may be donated to you by someone else.  For example, if Person A gets Person B to volunteer four (4) hours at a show, those four(4) hours can count towards a Year-End Award for Person A.   Person A will still need to volunteer four (4) additional hours in order to apply for their first Year-End Award, and volunteer an additional eight (8) hours if they apply for two (2) Year-End Awards.   The recipient of volunteer hours must be indicated at the time the volunteer hours are earned.
