LVDA Year-End Awards Opportunities

Year-End Awards Documentation
Please attach to your Application

  1. Compile copies of the front of your test sheets (including name of show, date, judge, test, score, etc.)   Riders must be current LVDA members (dues paid) at the time the scores are obtained. Scores received prior to membership will not be counted.

  2. Compile copies of your volunteer forms.  Eight (8) volunteer hours are required to apply for your first Year End Award (including 4 “Hands-On/Physical” volunteer hours) and an additional (4) volunteer hours are required to apply for each additional Year - End Award.  See information below regarding Volunteer Hours.

  3. Complete the Year-End Awards Application Form.

Completed applications must be postmarked by November 15.

Volunteer Hours:  The following indicates what volunteer hours are required to apply for Year-End Awards:

  1. Volunteer hours must be earned within the calendar year

  2. Eight (8) volunteer hours are required to apply for your first Year-End Award (including 4 “Hands-On/Physical” volunteer hours), and an additional four (4) hours are required to apply for each additional Year -End Award.  At least four (4) hours must be obtained from “Hands-On/Physical” activities at LVDA events.

  3. Volunteer hours can also be earned through “Supporting Activities”.   These include activities like LVDA Committee membership, writing Newsletter articles, obtaining sponsors, etc.

    Note:  Board Officers and/or Committee members cannot use Supporting Activitiy hours in combination with donated hours and sponsorship hours as total hours towards awards- at least four (4) hours must come from “Hands-On/Physical” activities at LVDA events.

  1. Donation of volunteer hours:  Four (4) of the required volunteer hours needed for an award may be donated to you by someone else.  For example, if Person A gets Person B to volunteer four (4) hours at a show, those four(4) hours can count towards a Year-End Award for Person A.   Person A will still need to volunteer four (4) additional hours in order to apply for their first Year-End Award, and volunteer an additional eight (8) hours if they apply for two (2) Year-End Awards.   The recipient of volunteer hours must be indicated at the time the volunteer hours are earned.

What is required to be eligible


LVDA Year- End Schooling Show Awards:  Champion, Reserve Champion, and ribbons through 6th place will be awarded to individuals who have competed at Schooling Shows within the calendar year. To be eligible for these awards, submit a copy of the front of the tests, with a minimum of three (3) scores from two (2) different judges. TWO of the THREE required scores must be from an LVDA-hosted schooling show, and the third may be from another local GMO-hosted schooling show (ESDCTA, French Creek, etc.).  Scores must be from an “L” Graduate judge or higher rated judge (r, R, or S).  One of the submitted tests must be from the highest test of the level.  Awards will be based on the highest average of 3 rides within the same level, minimum average score of 60%.  Awards will be provided for Introductory Level Tests A and B (combined), Introductory Level Test C, Training Level, First Level, Second Level, Third Level, Fourth Level, Prix St George, I-1, I-2, and Grand Prix.  A horse may compete with more than one rider, or the rider may compete with more than one horse, but the average will be calculated on each horse and rider combination.  Owner, if different from the rider need not be a LVDA member. Neither Fix-A-Test scores nor Adult Team scores may be used for these awards.

LVDA USEF/USDF Recognized Show Awards: Champion, Reserve Champion and ribbons to 6th place will be awarded to individuals who have competed at Recognized competitions within the calendar year.  To be eligible for these awards, submit a copy of the front of the tests, with a minimum of three scores (3) from two (2) different judges.  One of the submitted tests must be from the highest test of that level.  Awards will be based on the highest average of three (3) rides within the same level, minimum average score of 60%.  To be eligible for this award, one of the submitted tests must be from the highest test of the level.  Scores need not be received at LVDA hosted events.   Scores from Opportunity Classes are permissible.  Awards will be provided for Training Level, First Level, Second Level, Third Level, Fourth Level, Prix St. Georges, I-1, I-2, Grand Prix and Musical Freestyle of any level.  A horse may compete with more than one (1) rider, or the rider may compete with more than one horse, but the average will be calculated on each horse and rider combination.  Owner, if different from the rider need not be a member.

LVDA Senior High Score Awards: High score ribbons will be presented to the senior rider who havereceived the single highest scores during the LVDA show season at an LVDA-hosted event. Two awards will be given; an award will be given to a senior rider in Introductory/Training Level and also to a senior rider in First Level and above. To be eligible for these awards, submit a copy of the front of thetest. Owner, if different from the rider need not be a member. Fix-A-Test scores may be used for these awards.

LVDA Junior High Score Awards (Rider must be less than 21 years of age as of January 1st of the current show year.): High score ribbons will be presented to the junior riders who have received the highest single scoresduring the LVDA show season at an LVDA- hosted event. Two awards will be given; an award will be given to a junior rider in Introductory/Training Level and also to a junior rider in First Level and above. To be eligible for these awards, submit a copy of the front of the test. Owner, if different from the rider need not be a member. Fix-A-Test scores may be used for these awards.

LVDA VintageRider High Score Award: This award will be presented to a rider who is 55 years of age or older and who has received three (3) scores that average a minimum of 60% from LVDA-hosted events during the current calendar year. This award is based on scores received by the rider.,the horse need not be the same for each score. To be eligible, submit a copy of the front of the tests and proof of age.  This award may be won by the same individual a maximum of 3 times.

Thoroughbred Year End Award: High score ribbons will be presented to the Thoroughbred who has received the highest single score during the LVDA show season at an LVDA-hosted event. Two awards will be given; an award will be given to a Thoroughbred in Introductory/Training Level and also to a Thoroughbred in First Level and above. To apply, submit a) a copy of front of the test; and b) proof of Thoroughbred breeding through Jockey Club papers, tattoo, or other documentation. The horse must be 100% Thoroughbred (American or British, raced or unraced). Owner, if different from the rider need not be a member. Fix-A-Test scores may not be used for these awards.

LVDA Rider Achievement Awards (Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals):  Scores must be obtained within the past 5 years.  To be elibible, submit a copy of the front of six (6) tests from LVDA-hosted events with a minimum average score of 60%. The rider can achieve this award on more than one horse; however, a rider may only earn one Medal at each level.

Bronze Medal: six (6) scores at Training Level

Silver Medal: three (3) scores at First Level and three (3) scores at Second Level

Gold Medal: three (3) scores at Third Level and three (3) scores at Fourth Level

Amy Mende Award: The Amy Mende Award (formerly the Volunteer Of The Year Award) will be presented to a current LVDA member who has supported LVDA by volunteering time throughout the current calendar year.  It is presented in honor of Amy Mende who was an LVDA member and tireless volunteer. To be eligible for this award, you must a current member (dues paid) who has consistently volunteered throughout the current year. The recipient of the this award is  selected by the Awards Committee.

LVDA Recognition Award: an award will be given to a non-LVDA individual or a group who has made major contributions to the LVDA for the current calendar year. Current members may nominate these individuals or groups for this award.  The winner will be chosen by the Awards Committee
